Jim Gomez
Product Manager at Cast & Crew

Jim Gomez believes that the best technology starts with understanding the people it serves.

That perspective was shaped long before he became a product manager at Cast & Crew. Early in his career, Jim worked in California state government, supporting the state legislature. While the experience gave him a strong foundation, he was looking for an environment where the pace moved faster and every day brought a new challenge.

He found that opportunity at Cast & Crew.

"I joined on the client-facing side of the business," Jim says. "That really gave me a strong foundation in entertainment payroll and all the challenges those customers face."

Starting in account management, Jim worked directly with productions, helping customers navigate the complexities of entertainment payroll and the many details required to keep productions moving. That experience gave him a deep understanding of the people behind the work and the challenges they face every day.

Over time, Jim’s role evolved from solving customer challenges directly to helping design the technology solutions that address them.

"I've taken the real customer and operational problems and turned them into product solutions."

Today, Jim works across Cast & Crew’s product ecosystem, helping transform real-world production needs into digital experiences that make workflows simpler and more connected. His background on the customer side gives him a perspective that continues to influence how he approaches product development.

Because he spent years working directly with productions, Jim understands that technology is only valuable when it helps people do their jobs more effectively.

"When I look for solutions, I already have their goals in mind."

That connection between customers and technology has become a defining part of Jim’s career. He understands that entertainment payroll is constantly evolving, shaped by new production models, changing union agreements, and the many complexities of an industry where no two projects are exactly alike.

And that complexity is why collaboration matters.

For Jim, one of Cast & Crew’s greatest strengths is the collective knowledge across the company and the willingness of teams to come together to solve problems.

"There are subject matter experts in every department," he says. "They're all willing to help you solve the puzzle."

After more than a decade in the entertainment industry, Jim knows there is always more to learn.

"If anybody tells you they know everything there is to know about entertainment payroll, they lie," he says with a laugh. "Nobody knows it all."

Instead, progress comes from bringing together different perspectives, experiences, and areas of expertise.

That mindset has helped shape Cast & Crew’s continued evolution. As the company has grown from its roots in entertainment payroll services into a technology-driven organization, Jim has been part of building a more connected experience for customers.

Rather than thinking about individual processes separately, his work focuses on how technology can better support the full production journey.

"I want customers to manage their products and tasks in once central project, with every workflow connected and working together.”

For Jim, that transformation reflects the same kind of growth he has experienced throughout his own career. What began as helping individual customers overcome payroll challenges has become an opportunity to help shape solutions that support productions across the industry.

Looking back on his time at Cast & Crew, one of the most meaningful parts of the journey has been seeing his own perspective expand alongside the company. He has moved from understanding a single customer’s needs to seeing how teams across the organization work together to create a better experience.

For Jim, every challenge is another opportunity to learn, collaborate, and build something better.

"We all have to draw on our past experiences and our best judgment," he says. "That's how we help our customers figure it out."
