Content Binge: Number of Streaming Titles Continue To Increase 
Nielsen reports a 40% surge in streaming titles, estimated to reach 2.4 million by June 2023 from 1.9 million in 2021. These figures encompass exclusive titles across streaming platforms in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, and Mexico. While linear TV titles doubled, 87% of all content hails from streaming, maintaining its dominance in viewership. Streaming's audience continues to expand, solidifying its position as the leading TV content platform.

8.5 Million in One Day: National Cinema Day Discounts Drew Giant Audiences 
This past Sunday, U.S. theaters welcomed 8.5 million individual admissions, generating $34 million at the box office—a 5% rise from the previous year's National Cinema Day with 8.1 million admissions for $3 showtimes. EntTelligence reported a weekend total of 14.3 million moviegoers, and anticipation is high for a strong audience turnout during the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

Going Big: Cherokee Nation Reservation Expands Film Studio Campus 
Construction has commenced on a 10,000-square-foot soundstage at Oklahoma's Cherokee Nation Owasso film campus. Set for completion by early 2024, the state-of-the-art facility will encompass cinema-grade soundproofing, adaptable truss systems, hair and makeup studios, multipurpose-flex areas, and additional amenities. This expansion aligns with Cherokee Film's strategy to position Owasso as a worldwide production center, boost the reservation's film sector, and foster local Native-owned enterprises.

50 Years In: Telluride Film Festival Announces Latest Lineup 
Taking place in Colorado from August 31 to September 4, the Telluride Film Festival is renowned for its exceptional selection of international and independent cinema. In its latest edition, acclaimed Oscar-winning directors Alexander Payne, Emerald Fennell, and Steve McQueen will present their newest works. The festival will showcase world premieres alongside honoring distinguished international filmmakers with tributes.

All-Rounder: Viacom18 Wins India’s Home of Cricket Matches TV Rights 
Viacom18, the media conglomerate, has clinched digital and TV rights for India's domestic cricket matches in a significant $721.1 million agreement spanning September 2023 to March 2028. The five-year deal encompasses 88 games to be streamed on JioCinema and aired on Sports18 TV. The e-auction, held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on August 31, featured competing bids from entities like Disney Star and Sony Pictures Network India.
