Adobe and the Adobe Foundation are launching a $6 million Film & TV fund to empower underrepresented creators in the entertainment industry. Through grants, fellowships, and Adobe Creative Cloud product donations, the initiative will foster diversity and inclusion. Collaborating with organizations like Easterseals, Gold House, Latinx House, Sundance Institute, and Yuvaa, the fund will offer fellowships and apprenticeships. The inaugural 14-week fellowship, in partnership with the NAACP, marks a significant step in this commitment.

Signed and Sealed: Amazon MGM New Address at Pinewood Toronto Studios 
Amazon MGM Studios is making a move north with a significant lease of 160,000 square feet at Pinewood Toronto Studios. This marks their first long-term commitment to Canadian studio space, allowing for an expansion of film and series projects in Toronto, Ontario, and Canada at large. This strategic move establishes a Canadian production hub, leveraging the expertise of the region's top-tier crews.

20 global screen production organizations have united to call for government action in regulating streaming platforms. In a collective statement, companies from Canada, Australasia, Europe, and Latin America highlight the imperative for addressing market failure and commercial imbalances. This plea aligns with ongoing global debates, with countries like Australia and Canada contemplating legislation on these regulations.

Home Theater Gets Even Closer: Apple Announces Film Coming to Their Headset 
Apple has introduced the Apple Vision Pro, a mixed-reality headset featuring the innovative visionOS platform for developers to elevate immersive app experiences. At launch, users can enjoy 150+ 3D movies, including hits like Avatar: The Way of Water and Dune. Additionally, users can access Disney+ in four virtual environments inspired by iconic Disney settings. 

 

Film Festival

Get Ready for Berlinale: German Film Festival Announces 74th Edition 
Next month, the 74th edition of the Berlinale film festival will take place from February 15 to 24. The festival has revealed the complete line-ups for its Panorama, Forum, and Generation sections. Panorama boasts 31 titles, including 25 world premieres. The Forum section, curated by Barbara Wurm, will feature 30 films from 30 territories, and Generation will showcase 32 works, including seven debut films and 22 world premieres.
