Tentative Agreement: IATSE and AMPTP End Negotiations  
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have reached a tentative three-year deal after three months of talks. Pending ratification, it addresses a $670 million pension and health plan gap, streaming residuals, AI protections, and introduces triple time pay for work over 15 hours.

Back in the Czech Republic: Karlovy Vary Film Festival Returns for 58th Edition 
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), one of Europe's longest-running film festivals, returns for its 58th edition from June 28. This year's event features new releases, 15 directorial debuts, numerous world premieres, and films from Asia, Latin America, and many with strong female representation.

Surveying U.K. Entertainment Workers: Film and TV Chairty Re-launches Wellbeing Survey 
The U.K.'s Film and TV Charity has relaunched its Looking Glass survey for current and recent workers in film, TV, and cinema. Despite positive mental health trends in 2022, the charity stresses the importance of ongoing monitoring to address challenges. 

 

Awards

Growing the Academy: Awards Organization Sends Out Hundreds of Invites 
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 487 new members, the largest group since 2020. Notable invitees include Lily Gladstone, Celine Song, Chris Silbermann, and Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. If accepted, the new membership will be 35% women, 20% non-white, and 20% non-American, bringing the total to 10,910 members, with 9,934 eligible to vote.
