Launched in November 2022, the European Film Academy's Month of European Film has expanded from 35 partners in its first year to 108 in 2024. Screenings soared from 1,553 to over 16,000, with admissions climbing from 61,199 to nearly half a million.

Despite fluctuating attendance since the pandemic and strikes, theater owners are optimistic for 2025. Many are embracing innovative experiences and enhanced customer service, though concerns remain over short movie release windows and the growth of streaming.

Stay in LA: New Push to Keep Production in Hollywood 
To combat a 30% decline in film and TV production, Los Angeles is proposing to cut regulations, fees, and safety requirements to attract mid-budget films. Key measures include streamlining permits and reducing public safety costs, led by Councilmember Adrin Nazarian.

Commercial Contract Talks: Expiration Extended 
SAG-AFTRA and the Joint Policy Committee have extended their current labor agreements until Friday as negotiations for new contracts continue. The extension allows performers to work under existing terms while discussions, focused on compensation and AI’s impact on advertising, remain ongoing.

Hollywood Memorabilia: Iconic Props Fetch Record Prices 
Chewbacca’s bowcaster from Star Wars sold for $768,600 at Propstore’s Los Angeles auction. Other highlights included the Ghostbusters ghost catcher at $327,600 and Michael Keaton’s Batsuit from Batman Returns at $157,500.
