On June 8, 2018, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signed House Bill 1319, prohibiting gender identity discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations within the state of New Hampshire. “Gender identity” is defined under the statute as a person’s “gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior, whether or not that gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior is different from that traditionally associated with the person's physiology or assigned sex at birth.” New Hampshire is the 20thstate in the U.S. to prohibit employment-related discrimination on the basis of gender identity. The new law goes into effect on July 8, 2018.
