Cast & Crew Entertainment Services has completed its previously announced acquisition of CAPS Payroll from Uni-World Capital for an undisclosed price.
Variety first reported the deal on June 16.
CAPS is a payroll provider spanning multiple entertainment markets including commercial production, venues, music tours, live events, unscripted television and independent film. It has a 25-year history and provides end-to-end production payroll and accounting.
“Cast & Crew and CAPS bring complementary client bases, compatible technology portfolios and similar corporate cultures to this strategic combination. It’s an ideal fit,” said Eric Belcher, president and CEO of Cast & Crew. “With the closing of this transaction, our combined company can move forward and provide clients with the industry’s best suite of technology-enabled solutions and employees with expanded support, training and career opportunities.”
CAPS is headquartered in Culver City, Calif., with multiple locations in the U.S. and India. Cast & Crew was acquired from ZM Capital last year by Silver Lake Partners, which counts William Morris Endeavor/IMG Worldwide in its $26 billion portfolio.
Cast & Crew touts itself as the premier provider of technology-enabled payroll and production-management services to the entertainment industry. Services include payroll processing, residuals processing, workers’ compensation services, labor relations, production incentives and production tax credit financing.
In February, Cast & Crew acquired screenwriting software leader Final Draft for an undisclosed price.
