Film

**Gen Z Is Powering the Theater Comeback**
Gen Z is helping revive movie theaters. They now make up 39% of North American audiences, driven by social media FOMO, a desire for shared experiences, and strong interest in animated and IP-based films.

International

**Ireland’s Screen Industry Hits Record Growth**
Ireland’s screen industry is booming. Production spend reached €544 million in 2025, alongside major Oscar and BAFTA nominations. Strong tax incentives are attracting international productions while the country continues to cultivate its homegrown talent.

**Film Festival**

**Global Film Festivals Get a Major Reset**
The International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations has rolled out its biggest accreditation reform since 2007. The update designates 17 top festivals as A-list and adds six new festivals to its accredited lineup, aiming to create clearer industry standards and greater diversity across the global festival circuit.

Television

**Canal+ Beats Targets and Bets on AI and Growth**
Canal+ exceeded its 2025 financial targets despite ongoing challenges at newly acquired MultiChoice. The company also announced new AI partnerships with Google Cloud and OpenAI, a content deal with Sky, and a €100 million plan to revive MultiChoice’s struggling African pay TV business.

Sports

**Sports and Streaming Drive TV Advertising Trends**
Nielsen data shows sports led ad-supported TV in Q4 2025, making up 29.2% of viewing among adults 25 to 54. Streaming topped non-sports ad supported viewing at 43%, highlighting the two biggest forces reshaping TV advertising.
