As we wrap up our Women’s History Month interview series, we want to shine a spotlight on one more of the amazing women who are an integral part of the Cast & Crew organization. For our final installment, we spoke with Rori Floyd, SVP, Global Business Affairs, The TEAM Companies. Check out the chat below:

Rori Floyd
SVP, Global Business Affairs, The TEAM Companies

How long have you been with Cast & Crew?

I’ve been with The TEAM Companies for 10 years, and with Cast & Crew since our acquisition in 2021.

In general, what inspires you most, and where do you pull inspiration from?

I really enjoy the work that I do. My team maintains amazing insights into content production, from the initial idea, storyboards, contracting talent, production days, clearing commercials for broadcast, trafficking to the stations, and paying residuals to talent. Every bit of content we touch has a piece of my team and myself connected to it.

If you could pass on any piece of helpful guidance or advice to new female leaders, what would it be?

Stay focused on your intention. If you intend to be good to people, do it. If you intend to lead and inspire, do it. If you intend to provide stellar service to your clients, do it.

What are the most significant barriers you’ve had to overcome in your role, the industry, or the workplace?

I am African American, and I have seen the very dark side of this industry. I’ve been treated unfairly and judged based on other people’s biases. Regardless of the circumstance, I stayed focused on my intention, even when my spirit was broken. Over the past 10 years, I’ve found a wonderful place where I can thrive, nurture, encourage, and lead by example. I have learned to ask for the resources I need to continue to be effective and successful.

What can leaders do to empower the next generation of women trailblazers?

I encourage leaders to be open to the up-and-coming talent around them. Acknowledge hard work and recognize the team members who go above and beyond, despite the personal and professional obstacles we all encounter daily.

Who is one of your role models (and why)?

My mom has always been my inspiration. She also had to push past adversity in her career. She was strong, kind, and fair. She served as counsel to many. Even 20 years after retirement (and now with an Alzheimer's diagnosis), her former staff still seeks her out to make sure that she is living well. She made the most of her time and experiences. We should all strive to live our best lives.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this Women’s History Month interview series, gaining a bit more insight into the team of strong, brilliant women throughout the Cast & Crew organization. As the month winds down, we will continue to celebrate their achievements every day of the year.
