Initially effective April 9, 2011, New York state’s Wage Theft Prevention Act went into to protect workers in New York. The Act requires employers to provide written statements setting forth all employees’ pay rates and pay dates and provides a civil cause of action against employers that fail to properly disclose or pay wages. Subsequent modifications to the law have since also taken effect.
