Effective May 1, 2026, Cast & Crew has moved to a new workers' compensation injury reporting system. The updated process is simpler and accessible from any location, whether you're on set, in post-production, or at a live event.
Here’s what you need to know:
What changed
Cast & Crew now uses Origami, a digital reporting platform that replaces the previous claim submission process. With Origami, designated reporters have two ways to file an injury or illness report:
- The Origami Mobile App
Available for Apple iOS and Android, the app lets reporters submit incidents directly from a phone or tablet. It's especially useful on location, where quick access matters and a desktop isn't always nearby. Log in using credentials on our reporting instructions.
- The Web-Based Platform
If the app isn't an option due to limited cell data or shared devices, reporters can file through a browser-based portal. No login is required, so there's no barrier to getting a report submitted quickly.
Both options use a single-page form that captures everything a claim needs: claimant information, date and location of the injury, a description of what happened, treatment details, and witness information.
Why timely reporting matters
Each state has its own deadlines for reporting workplace injuries, and late filings can result in penalties passed through to the production company or venue. Cast & Crew recommends reporting all injuries and illnesses within 24 hours, regardless of how minor they appear. Every incident must be reported, no exceptions.
For California employees or anyone injured in California, a CA DWC-1 form must also be completed and submitted through the app, emailed to workcomp@castandcrew.com, or faxed to (818) 848-4614.

Two updated resources are easily available on our website:
- Workers' Compensation Claim Reporting Instructions: Step-by-step guidance for using the Origami app and web platform, including login credentials and a QR code for quick access.
- Important Workers' Compensation Information: A reference covering injury reporting, medical care procedures, authorized medical providers, OSHA requirements, and contact information for Cast & Crew's Risk Management team.
Both documents should be distributed to your designated First Aid or Set Medic contacts, and anyone else responsible for reporting incidents to Cast & Crew.
