A new study commissioned by the Ruderman Family Foundation analyzing 350 scripted TV shows from 2016 to 2023 found that nearly 80% of characters with disabilities were portrayed by able-bodied actors, and only 3.9% of all characters had a disability, despite 30% of Americans identifying as disabled.
